VocalMD offers an open communication platform for licensed healthcare providers and patients to exchange information, obtain advice, medical care, active medication reconciliation, care coordination, patient education, and more. Connect with your own existing providers, new providers, or bring your providers together for maximal collaboration and information exchange.
VocalMD will accept most commercial insurances in early 2025, and other forms of insurance later in the year.
Each provider sets their own time schedule. Please do not convey what you feel is emergency or life-threatening symptoms on VocalMD and expect an immediate reponse; if you have urgent or emergent symptoms call your local urgent care, ER, or call for an ambulance via 911 for more time sensitive care. VocalMD is for routine medical care. Messages are responded to as promptly as possible. Call 911 for anything you think is a life threatening symptom.
If your doctor appears on VocalMD already, simply select them under "Add Doctor". Your doctor will receive a notification that you want to connect, and will either accept or deny the request. Not all doctors are yet available on VocalMD, but almost 80-90% of doctors are able to easily log in with secure credentials. If you want to connect with your doctor, you can mention it to them in person, or call their office, or email docs@vocaldocs.com and we will assist you, please include the doctors name, specialty, and office phone or email address.
No. We do not sell, share, or distribute your information unless required by law. However new federal laws, enacted over the past few years via the CURES Act, mandate the use of something called FHIR technology within any healthcare information system. We have to comply with those laws, and release your information to any secure HIPAA compliant software system that requests your information. See https://www.cms.gov/regulations-and-guidance/guidance/interoperability/index for more information about federal data laws and privacy. This is a new and evolving technology which is designed to empower doctors, patients, and healthcare systems to do better care.
VocalMD is designed to be for everyone.
As of June 2023, VocalMD is for adults age 18 and older who can provide consent for medical care. For dependent care for adults > 18, appropriate guardianship forms will need to be provided. Pediatric care for those less than 18 years of age will be added as soon as possible. For questions about pediatric or child medical care, contact a pediatrician or your family doctor.
To add new medications for review by your medical care team, click the Add New Medication button inside the VocalMD app. Follow the instructions. Your team will verify or update the medications. Look for questions, verifications, or dose clarifications or other changes from your medical team.
Add new medical problems to update your team, even if you are not sure. Your team will receive your new problems, review, clarify, and work together to identify issues, solve problems, and keep your records accurate. If you have questions about terminology or problems, reach out to your team!
